Program Description: Community college presidents are retiring in significant numbers. Baby boomer presidents are deservingly moving on to their next life phase, leaving a looming leadership shortage across the United States. At this very critical juncture in history, community colleges, perhaps now more than ever, need the very best leadership possible. The AACC Competency Framework for Community College Leaders requires updating to identify leadership competencies necessary for our incoming senior executives to lead colleges into the 21st century. Join us in an interactive session that will engage attendees to identify significant leadership competencies that build upon diverse perspectives and multicultural approaches. The outcomes of this spotlight session will be critical in the preparation of future leaders who will guide community colleges with vision and creativity in a dynamic environment. This session is presented and facilitated by members of the National Asian/Pacific Islander Council, National Community College Hispanic Council, and National Council on Black American Affairs.
