Program Description: Virginia’s Community Colleges have redesigned their content, curriculum, placement, and more to support student progress to completion. Through collaborative efforts of hundreds of faculty and administrators, a new direction and vision were established, revised content and curriculum were developed, and a new customized placement/diagnostic instrument was created. The speakers will address the process, the structures, the mechanisms for building consensus, the outcomes thus far, and the current progress of the “Virginia model” for infusing innovation and addressing acceleration in developmental mathematics, so that students can achieve academic and career outcomes.
