Program Description: Social movements are typically identified as broad social alliances of people connected through some shared interest in effecting (or stopping) social change. While social movements do not have to be formally organized, they are propelled forward more quickly when multiple alliances work separately for a common cause. Because of the attention afforded to community colleges, from top-level presidential policies and staff appointments, to pop culture television and big-screen movies depicting the community college experience, it's time to look at some of the thinking about and models for what makes and drives a movement.
